Normally we tackle projects where people start with a decent bike. Well, this Honda CX500 Cafe Racer project started its life as a piece of ….
That said, just enjoy how this guy made a beautiful CX500 Cafe Racer out of this black piece of metal. I couldn’t be easy!
Hmm, what to say about this….
Immediately a start was made to turn it into a Cafe Racer. The seat was first up.
Finished the modeling
Getting dirty with glass fiber
Hé, it seems that there is some Cafe Racer DNA in the bike afterall!
Some fresh air would be nice as well, so the CX500 was introduced to K&N
You can imagine, that hard labor was need to strip the bike!
Stripping for paint
The oil pump / filter had seen some better days aswell. It was replaced by a donor part.
The mess you see: metal, gasket, old gasoline, unicorn farts.
This frame is ready for the next 30 years of abuse!
This “guy” as well.
Looking good!
Blegh, those carburetors do not look that nice/clean (need help with that? click here)
Nothing what lemon juice and water cannot solve ( 1 : 2 ).
Beware not to overcook, because the aluminium will get pitting.
As new!
Lovely chromed parts. Love it.
Done!
