The Netherlands is well known for its wooden shoes, tulips, drugs and yes, it’s red light district. However, did you know that this country has some real Café Racer magicians as well?
Take Nicked89 for example. This young guy is building an awesome Honda cb360 Café Racer in his garage as we speak.
Like most of the bikes in this project section, this post will be updated once in a while.
Yup, once in a while, since sometimes the weed and women take over in the Netherlands 😉
Enough chit chat. Let’s start at the beginning.
It all started with this little Honda CB360.
Let’s take a look inside the engine
Yup, these exhaust may go.
A few minutes later 😉
Removing the (heavy) seat, to be replaced by…..
Removing the starter motor to save weight
This engine is ready for an extreme make-over!
Nej…..
Yes!
Polished the forks as well!
A man has to eat during working, so Nick did put some “Café Racer food” in the oven.
(Or did he do this so watch paint dry?)
The result
In the meanwhile the motor/frame was cleaned
Nick also received a Honda CB900 tank, which will be fitted on his Honda CB360 Café Racer.
Like a glove!
Porno parts. Look at that ass! All carbon fiber baby.
Since we are talking about porno; some new rubbers
Cleaning up the tank
Cleaning and building on the engine
Testing how will look
Prepping the CB360 a bit more
Added Carbon Fiber Clip ons
Some aluminium bushings for the wheels
It seems like they fit just fine!
Hmmm what is he planning next?
That’s right. Another weight saver
DIY Carbon Fiber
Does weight around nothing and zero grams, and looks great! (to be finished)
Aluminium rear end
DYI Brake Disc Improvement (Sketching it up)
“Punching holes”
Holes drilled!
Nick didn’t forget his subframe
Figuring out how to make mounts for his carbon fiber Café Racer seat.
In the meanwhile, another little photoshoot, to see how everything coming along.
What’s this?
Nick made his tank very special indeed! Oldskool Honda Logo on a brushed tank.
Some clear coating and done!
Another special modification: He anodised the forks! Sweeeet!
Sweeeeter
Watching paint coating dry
Nick also added some new rearsets
And “deleted” about 350grams of metal doing so! The lighter the better.
This is last picture is the current status of the bike.
The frame is waiting for powder coating and new ideas & pictures will follow asap!
Like always: To be continued.
The Honda CB360 is a twin cylinder four-stroke motorcycle produced by Honda from 1974 to 1976. It was the successor to the Honda CB350. Following the CB350 Twin, and providing an alternative to the CB350F and CB400F, the CB360 of 1974 was a new motorcycle.
The 356 cc engine was tuned for broad range torque, and ran through a six-speed gearbox. The base CB360 model came equipped with front and rear drum brakes, while the CB360t version offered a front hydraulic disc brake.
