We had a short talk with Jan and Nils from Klassik Kustoms and we love to share their Honda CB250 Cafe Racer with you!
Nils and Jan explain: “We’re two guys… with a motorcycle problem. Fucked by our daily jobs, we found a way out: we fix vintage motorcycles, we build them, we make them kustom.We build bikes – by hand. We fix bikes – by hand.
Our builds got the spirit from the Cafe Racer Kulture – our love are japanese motorcycles from the 70s, especially Honda and Yamaha. Love or hate our bikes – we don’t care, cause we build them the way we like – flat & low – we call it FLOWSTYLE!”
“Bikes for those who don’t need status symbols. Motorcycles don’t need to be expensive, bling bling or from the US, first of all they need to be real and authentic. And that’s the way we build bikes – made to feel one of the ultimate things in life: FREEDOM!
No one needs big engines to feel free or just roaming around. So we decide to serve only motorcycles under 750cc. No matter how much money you can spend on the project – we will find a way.”
This 1974 Honda CB 250 K was wrenched in order to show what is possible with a pretty small budget. This is why we call it „Little Liberty“.
The CB is cutted 4cm lower than stock. We also do a custom job on the frame to shorten it 7cm. The miniseat is normally wrenched on Yamaha’s SR500, we made it fit!
So here is the list what they changed:
– Suspension lowered 4cm
– Custom front mask with ellipsoid mini headlight
– Mini speedo with custom wrench holders
– Fehling Clip Ons
– Beston grips
– Oberon LED indicators
– Mini barend mirror
– Front brake distributor moved to frame
– Light switch moved to frame
– Overhauled complete electrics, put in a modern recifier/regulator combo, modern coils, etc.
– Honda CB360G Kickstarter lever
– Motobits rearset, modified
– AME Valvecaps
– Short peashooters
– Avon MK2 18×4.00 in the back
– SR500 miniseat
– Bates style taillight with custom license plate holder
– Alloy rearfender
– Removed several parts to save weight
– Shortend and rewelded a new frame backend
– Rope for the fork
– Mini LiFePo battery
– And a lot of small custom work and parts
While they build the bike a customer came to our shop, saw it and just bought it without thinking about it. He even wrote them, that he is so happy with the bike (best decision he ever made) that he just wanted to sell his new CBR600RR, because the 250 has so much character and there is no need to ride such a modern bike.
This definitely put a big smile on their faces and ours as well!
So, you no need a great budgetor a huge engine to make a cool Cafe Racer, and this Honda CB250 Cafe Racer should make this clear!
