2WM were commissioned to build a BMW boxer based café racer encompassing many of the characteristics of the classic British café racers. This was a really fun project pulling parts from a number or relating machines to end up with a neat BMW Racer.

Key to this was to incorporate a meaty Four Leading Shoe front drum and classic spoked alloy wheels.

Typical donor bikes for boxer projects are R80/7s – however, these have disc brakes. In order to deliver the front drum setup, 2WM sourced a 1980 R80/7 and then replaced the forks with those from a drum equipped R75/5. A new Yamaha 260mm 4 LS drum was sourced from J.Lomas and spoked Morad alloy wheels were built by Hagon.

To further enhance the look, the R75 old shape tank (with knee grips) and headlamp were incorporated as well as the shorter swingarm.

The rear sub-frame was modified to take a café racer seat base and the tail light was built into this. A one-off tuck-and-roll seat was upholstered and covered P&D Bikes. The fenders and the reverse cone/pea shooter exhausts were fabricated in-house.

The carbs have pod air filters and the old air box will contains the very small Shorai lithium battery, horn etc – so allowing the space under the saddle to be clutter-free.

A Vincent bar with Magura levers has been used together with one-off cables.

A black and old English white paint job was added providing the pop.
